Long before humans walked the Earth, the ancestors of crocodiles were already inhabiting its waterways. There is something unmistakably prehistoric about them even today: the armoured scales, immense jaws and low, watchful profile of a predator refined by millions of years of evolution. Our Japanese-inspired watercolour design takes that ancient strength and renders it with an unexpectedly delicate touch, bringing fluid brushwork and drifting colour to one of nature's most formidable survivors. Watercolour provides a fascinating counterpoint to the crocodile's rugged form. Loose washes flow around the hard geometry of its scales, while expressive strokes suggest the broken reflections and shifting movement of the water in which it spends so much of its life. The result captures both sides of this extraordinary reptile: imposing and powerful at close quarters, yet capable of disappearing almost completely into the stillness of a river with barely a ripple to betray its presence. For something inspired by an animal so perfectly adapted to its environment, comfort seemed an appropriate place to start with the garment itself.
